Irish Tour
(June 19-28, 2009)
A 9-days trip all around the beautiful Ireland is about to begin: 2000 km from Dublin to the Giant’s Causeway, from the oldest whiskey distillery in Bushmills to St. Patrick’s grave in Downpatrick, from the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher to King John’s Castle in Limerick. Follow the daily updates on butnaru.eu (Romanian only) and come back here on gabrielbutnaru.ro for the photo story.
If we want to travel the world, we need to have a world. As the climate suffers visible changes all over the Earth, today more than ever we have to realize that the cars, planes, ships and trains we use during our trips have an impact on our planet. And we have to do something. We have to travel responsibly. Otherwise, we might be the last ones to see the wonders of this world. That's why this Irish Tour will be the starting point of a new project: planting a tree in every country I visit. It's only a modest contribution to sustaining the environment, so that future generations can enjoy this planet as I do; but by 2020, an estimated 1.5 billion people will be traveling each year. Consider 1.5 billion trees: it's about as much as the Amazon rainforest loses annually.
If you want to help this project, feel free to donate any amount you think it's appropriate. |
